HISTORY
UFV WEST was founded in 2019 by STEM students Isabelle St-Martin, Kennedy Zwarych, Aisa Dobie, and Emma Rose (left to right). Early on in her university career, Isabelle took a course in Women's Studies that made her realize women and girls in STEM needed more support, and inspired her to find a way to achieve this. She soon met Aisa, Emma, and Kennedy who were also passionate about feminism and shared in the idea. Together they created WEST to empower gender minorities in STEM within the university, community, and beyond. The founders hope to leave a legacy that will ultimately ensure that STEM is a place for everyone.

Our logo was created in 2019 by graphic designer (and WEST dad!) Daryl Rose.
